Experience Mexico's Baja Peninsula with other skilled paddlers in top quality sea kayaks through Sea Kayak Baja Mexico. Expeditions from 6 to 20 days and BCU courses from 2-star through 4-star form the heart of the program which also offers custom events for groups, rentals to qualified paddlers, and coach development particularly for Mexican guides and coaches.
Locally based out of Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico, Sea Kayak Baja Mexico is run by Ginni Callahan as an extension of Columbia River Kayaking. Sea Kayak Baja Mexico's courses are designed to develop paddlers' skills through coaching and experience in the rugged desert beauty of Mexico's Baja Peninsula. Different course levels are available to challenge paddlers as they progress. Programs are run in the Sea of Cortez in the National Marine Park of the bay of Loreto and on the Pacific Coast.
Programs
Sea of Cortez Programs in the spectacular National Marine Park of the Bay of Loreto:
Expedition Primer (BCU 2-star and 3-star development) builds skill and well-founded confidence through paddling technique, seamanship, and groupmanship on a 6-day journey.
Expedition Course (3-star development) provides expedition experience as a foundation to developing judgment and boat handling skills. Journeys from 8 to 14 days.
Three Islands Course (4-star development) incorporates committed open water crossings and longer paddling days to build competence in open water conditions. Journeys from 8 to 14 days visit Coronados Island, Carmen Island, and Danzante Island, all within the Park.
Four Islands Expedition (enhancing 4-star skills) is a 20-day
exploration of
the National Marine Park incorporating several significant open water
crossings (10 mi). Route includes Carmen Island, Danzante Island,
Coronados Island and
Monserrate Island, weather permitting.
Pacific Coast Programs on Baja's legendary Pacific coast:
Baja Pacific Surf Camp. A 10-day basecamp develops and enhances 4-star
skills along sandy beaches, rocky headlands, and tiny islands. Baja
Pacific Journey. A 20-day expedition challenges big surf along a
remote desert coast.
